MetLife announces the separation of it’s USA Life Insurance unit. Amongst “Structural Alternatives,” under consideration is a public offering of shares as an Independent company, a spin-off or a sale. This spin-off represents 20% of MetLife’s operating earnings.

MassMutual agrees to buy MetLife Retail Advisor network for $300 million. MetLife’s retail distribution operation of 40 local sales offices and 4000 advisors across the country will be acquired by MassMutual.
April 20th, 2016
MetLife is leaving the Disability Insurance Business. All US Retail Disability Insurance sales, of Individual Disability Insurance, will be suspended effective September 1st, 2016. This is a strategic decision to facilitate the separation of US Retail business.
